Cam Shaft grinding, on a lathe...?
They are like a od grinder, but use a master to rock the cam into and out of the wheel. If someone gave you a manual grinder, delivered, I think you could produce your first cam for between $5,000 and $10,000. If you are a good machinist. And you already had the lathe to make blanks and the surface grinder to make the master.

Lathe tool grinding rest / guide
I wonder if anyone makes, or has plans for, a rest for grinding lathe tools. I've been thinking about making one. It doesn't need to be bolted to the bench grinder as long as both the rest and grinder are bolted to the bench. My thinking is along the lines of a miniature version of the slide used on a table saw for pushing wood past the blade.

South Bend Lathes | Grinding operations on lathe? | Practical Machinist …
I have conflicting data for grinding operations on a lathe. HTRAL 1915 states that grinding should never be done on a lathe, because no matter how careful you are, some grinding media will end up in the bearings. This conflicts with a plethora of tool post grinding units I have seen. Is...

Regrinding Lathe Bed Ways
My machine will hold reasonable tolerances (but not anywhere near grinder tolerances) in under 5'. Over that it kicks up a bit at the ends and begins to diverge more noticeably. Way better than a turret mill, not near a grinder. Somewhere in between. On the lathe bed in question, .015" is nothing unless you are doing some pretty special work.

Lathe tool bit grinding gage | The Hobby-Machinist
I use a 1 X 42" belt grinder to sharpen my lathe bits. I made some templates from Plexi at the common angles, i.e, 8 degrees, 12 degrees, etc, to use in setting the table and miter gauge angles. I had access to a CNC router to make my templates, but I could have used my table saw and miter gauge also.

The End Now we will grind the end face of the tool. Radius grinding a lathe tool
Today I needed a 1/16 radius on a 1/8 lathe tool.. So here is how I did it. I put a Dremel flex shaft thru the lathe spindle and clamped in the lathe chuck. Then I made a stand for my ball turning tool, milled for a 5 degree relief angle and slotted for the 1/8 tool. It may not be perfect, and it was slow going, but it sure did a good job.
